Ever see Sparkles relaxing in a sunspot and thought to yourself, "He would make a nice Tuba"? Naturally, who hasn't?!
It’s exactly what it sounds like: user-submitted videos of cats taking the place of musical instruments. People are picking up their cats and playing them (hilariously) like musical instruments. They then upload their Cat Band video to social media outlets like Tumblr and Instagram with the hashtag #catband!
The idea started with user julieamalone's video of her playing her cat as a ukelele. It is very easy to join the catband: play a song with your cat substituting for your guitar, saxophone, triangle, etc. Upload the video to Instagram and tag it with the hashtag #catband.
Luckily, the creator of Cat Band understood from the very start that being a cat-struments might be a bit uncomfortable for our fuzzy feline friends, especially when it comes to being a percussion cat-strument or accordion. Thus, the site insists "please don't hurt your cats; that would be super lame."
